About the event
La Stranociada is the traditional carnival of Locarno. It enlivens the city for four days, from Thursday 21 to Sunday 24 January 2027, with a festive atmosphere.
The programme opens on Thursday with a warm-up evening in the marquee in Piazza Sant'Antonio. Entry is free. On Friday and Saturday there are two nights of festivities in the streets of the Old Town (Città Vecchia). The carnival ends on Sunday with the traditional risotto in Piazza Grande.
This edition is accompanied by the return of King Pardo II and Queen Carlotta I, who symbolically reign over the carnival.
