About the event

From 5 to 7 March 2027 the Ascona-Locarno region hosts the first Generali Run The Sun – Ascona-Locarno Marathon, which aims to become the first marathon of the year in Switzerland.

There are several distances. The marathon covers 42 km along the shores of Lake Maggiore. The half marathon starts at the Centro Sportivo di Tenero and finishes in Locarno. The 10k can be run, walked or Nordic walked. The 5k Grand Prix Città Vecchia Locarno goes through the old town, including the climb of Via delle Monache. The Kids Run for young participants takes place around Piazza Grande.
