What you find
Luino's market is the biggest on the lake, with 359 pitches in the regional register, and it has been held since the early 1800s. It sells everything: fresh cheese, cured meats, lake fish, seasonal fruit and vegetables, flowers, clothes of every kind, shoes, leather bags, belts and jackets, sewing supplies, kitchenware and cosmetics. Many visitors come by boat from the Swiss shore.
Tips
The hours are the market's official trading hours; most stalls are set up from about 8:00. Swiss visitors should check the customs allowance before taking goods home.
